GHS9.4m Traffic Light Deal Cleared for Goaso, Mim, Kenyasi
The Ministry of Roads and Highways has given the green light for a GHS9.46 million traffic signal project targeting Goaso, Mim, and Kenyasi, in a move officials say is aimed at tightening road safety controls in rapidly growing towns.
The approval, granted to the Department of Urban Roads, follows a successful vetting process of a proposal submitted for the installation of the traffic lights.
In a memo signed by Director of Procurement, Francis P. K. Nudze, the Ministry authorised the Department to initiate procurement procedures for the execution phase of the project.
Authorities stressed that all processes must strictly adhere to the Public Procurement Act 2003, as amended, signaling heightened attention to compliance and transparency.

The intervention comes as vehicular activity continues to surge in the three towns, raising safety concerns and increasing pressure on existing road management systems.
Government officials maintain the project is part of a broader national push to modernise transport infrastructure and curb road accidents, particularly in emerging urban centres experiencing fast-paced growth.
