Executive Chairman of the McDan Group, Daniel McKorley, has called on Ghana’s business leaders to take bold decisions to help drive the country’s economic recovery, warning that the private sector can no longer afford to wait on the sidelines.

Speaking at the launch of the 10th Ghana CEO Summit in Accra, Mr McKorley said Ghana’s economy is at a defining moment, with recovery and repositioning creating both opportunity and pressure for corporate leadership.

He described Ghana as one of West Africa’s most attractive investment destinations, pointing to its growing middle class, strategic location and access to the wider African market through continental trade.

According to him, those advantages alone will not deliver results unless business leaders are prepared to act decisively.

Mr McKorley urged chief executives to combine local action with global thinking, saying courage, resilience and integrity would be critical in navigating the next phase of economic growth.

He also cautioned that the global business climate is becoming increasingly challenging and said companies must prepare for tougher conditions rather than expecting an easier operating environment.

“The world is not going to be any sweeter or better. Things are going to be tough and tougher,” he said.

He noted that the speed of change in the global economy means Ghanaian businesses must move faster to remain competitive.

Mr McKorley said the Ghana CEO Summit has become more than a networking platform, describing it as a space for generating ideas, partnerships and practical action needed to support national development.

He said the summit’s theme, From Vision to Action, reflects what Ghana needs at a time when leadership from the private sector is becoming increasingly important.
