Republic Bank, UPSA sign MoU on staff training

Republic Bank (Ghana) PLC has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), under which the university will train the bank’s staff and engage them in Continuous Professional Development courses.
The MoU is intended to improve staff delivery and ensure that, after years of work, they maintain their mental acuity.
Managing Director of Republic Bank, Dr Benjamin Dzoboku, said the MoU “is a reflection of how academia and industry can come together to address the existing gap.”
He stressed that for the Bank to be successful, it could not do without its human resources.
He said, “If any organisation wants to achieve sustainable growth, then it is through its human resources. I believe UPSA can help us develop our staff.”
He was optimistic that the fruits of the partnership would ultimately be seen in improved service delivery and staff innovation, describing the partnership as a way of “bringing industry closer to academia, and academia closer to industry.”
He assured the management of Republic Bank that the training of its staff would bear fruit and that they would return with positive tales to tell of their experience at the university.
He expressed happiness at the Vice-Chancellor’s support for the signing and the deepening of the already established ties.
The signing of the new MoU is a further step in strengthening the ties between the two institutions and builds on previously signed MoUs.
